In the Loop: 6 Tips for Buying Carpet
- Details
- 22 February 2022
1. Start with a carpet that is suited to your traffic needs.
Our Wool and Solution Dyed Nylon carpets have all been traffic rated by the Australian Carpet Classification Scheme (ACCS) and certified by the Australian Carpet Institute.
2. Ask your retailer if it is priced by the broadloom or square metre.
When looking at prices, ask your retailer if it is priced by the broadloom or square metre. A broadloom is 1.0 x 3.66m, which is equivalent to 3.6sqm. Keep in mind that other flooring products, such as hard flooring, are often priced by square metre.
3. Ask your retailer about underlay options suited to your needs.
There are many benefits to using a good quality underlay. Not only will your new carpet feel softer and more luxurious under your feet, but it will also extend the life of the carpet and help to reduce noise. Ask your retailer about underlay options suited to your needs.
4. Failing to plan is planning to fail.
Having a good installation plan will not only save you money but also minimize the need for joining.
5. Keep a record of your installation.
Accidents can happen, and when they do it’s always handy to have this information on hand!
-
- Name of the retailer and manufacturer of the carpet
- Carpet grading number (ACCS Number)
- Type of underlay used
- Any warranty and receipts
- Any unused carpet
6. Future proof your installation.
Consider buying a little extra carpet for any mishaps or any high traffic areas like the stairs.
