  In the loop: Cleaning Red Wine Spills 

Spills are often unavoidable, especially at parties!

This holiday season, when Uncle John spills his wine on our new carpet, remember - DON'T PANIC, ACT QUICKLY!

Step 1: Take a clean or absorbent towel and use a blotting action to soak up the stain immediately. Do not rub the stain with towels.

Step 2: Use a detergent (crystalizing carpet shampoo) on the stain, following the manufacturer's instructions and blot afterwards)

Step 3: Use an acid cleaner (white vinegar and water) on the stain and blot away the excess.

Step 4: Rinse with cold water and blot away the water before leaving it to dry for 48-72 hours. 

Step 5: If the stain persists seek professional advice as other cleaning procedures may permanently set the stain.
